At What The Gravel we believe locals should be charged a lower rate than international tourists and bush camps offering nothing more than a tree in the ground cannot in good conscience, charge more than R200 per person per day.
That is why we are working hard on finding a solution to circumvent these mad-house rates. One of these solutions is to steer clear of those establishments. Discounted rates are no longer good enough as every booking engine on the market, offers some form of “reward” to use them. We need FRESH!
Whether you book via facebook or Lekkeslaap, everyone is offering the same discounts, making loyalty nothing more than a national price drop. And the “discount” is not to support the resort or bushcamp; it’s to support the booking engine, because the more users, the more listings they can get.
The upside however is that once you and the property owner concluded your first transaction, the booking agent is shoved to the side and future transactions are done directly.
